Let me help you find your path.

Meet Julie

I am a yoga and meditation teacher, writer, Tarot reader, and counselor living and working in Edmonton, Alberta, in Treaty 6 Territory (Amiskwaciy Waskahikan—Plains Cree land). I came to what I do through a Master’s degree in Canadian poetry, yoga teacher training, a counseling degree, writing a couple of books on trauma recovery and moon goddesses, running a yoga studio for ten-plus years, and doing a lot of my own healing work both medically and esoterically, so it’s been a bit of a winding path. Whether you want to practice yoga with me, read my writing, sign up for a process-focused Tarot reading, or want to work one-on-one with me in my body-based Pathfinding counseling program, I want to help you find your path. I deeply believe that we all have the wisdom inside of us to heal ourselves, but that it often helps a lot to do that healing in connection with another human being and/or in community. My yoga classes are thoughtful, reflective, and often playful, my Tarot readings are intuitive and participatory, and my one-on-one counseling sessions are trauma-informed and focus on ways to get the body and the mind to communicate with each other so you can find your own way forward. I do my best to be inclusive, feminist, and anti-oppressive, which is an ongoing process.

You can follow me on Instagram or Facebook or email me here.

Credentials

I have been practising yoga and meditation for over 20 years and spent 11 years running the yoga studio Ocean and Crow in Vancouver, BC (E-RYT 500, YACEP). I have written two books: Secrets of the Eternal Moon Phase Goddesses: Meditations on Desire, Relationships, and the Art of Being Broken (SkyLight Paths 2016) and the Canada Book Award-winning WANT: 8 Steps to Recovering Desire, Passion, and Pleasure After Sexual Assault (Mango Media 2019). I’m also a staff writer for Spirituality and Health Magazine and have a library of guided meditations on the Insight Timer app. I have a Master’s Degree in Canadian poetry from McGill University, focusing on the works of George Elliott Clarke and Dennis Lee, both of whom considered the complications of Canadian identity from a racial and historical perspective. I also have a certificate in counseling skills from Vancouver Community College. In 2020, during the pandemic, I became a mom.

I work, live, play, and heal in Treaty 6 territory, specifically in Plains Cree and Blackfoot lands (also known as Edmonton, Alberta) and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations (also known as Vancouver, BC).

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation.
