Every night of a moon cycle, meet the goddess who presides over that phase of the moon.

The Tantric moon phase goddesses take us through the journey of a moon cycle from desire through connection and then separation (and back again). When you sign up for this course, you’ll receive an email for 16 days starting on the new moon with information about that night’s goddess, the link to a meditation (usually around 10 minutes to do whenever you have time), a journaling prompt, and more.

These goddesses are manifestations of Lalita (“The Playful One”) from the Shakta Tantra tradition, which is a goddess-focused theology that offers a beautiful, expansive, and often sensual perspective on life, love, and heartbreak. From the new moon all the way to the full, we will encounter the Goddess of Loneliness, the Goddess of Choice, the Goddess of Vulnerability, the Goddess of Playfulness, and others, exploring the energy of that goddess and learning a bit about Shakta Tantra philosophy along the way.

When you sign up for this course, you will be subscribed to the daily emails which will begin on a new moon and continue for 16 days. Your membership also includes anytime access to the moon goddess meditations, plus unlimited live and on-demand yoga classes, all my other online courses, and more. You can sign up anytime and do the meditations at your own pace, but the email aspect of the course happens about once a year.

I’ve enjoyed the daily email that introduces the moon goddess for that day—I always read them, and the repetition of your telling in the meditation is equally enjoyable, as is the writing prompt. I have kept a diary for this series that I can return to. The format really works for me— the length is good, as are the guided meditations.

Who are the Nityas?

The Eternal Moon Phase Goddesses (the Nityas) are attendants of the goddess Lalita, whose name means “Playful One.” I first learned about them from yoga teacher Eric Stoneberg and then deepened my research for my book about them, which is called Secrets of the Eternal Moon Phase Goddesses. I followed a text called the Tantraraja Tantra, which is an ancient text translated by the famed Englishman Arthur Avalon, who was a bit of an obsessive about Tantric culture in the colonial era in India. I also read Douglas Brooks’ extensive writings on Rajanaka Tantra, a goddess-oriented sect of Tantrism.

When I first encountered these goddesses, I was feeling disconnected from my own spirituality (I am a white settler in Canada), and healing from my own heartbreaks. The Nityas gave me an entry into something beautiful and complex that felt like it could hold the whole of my experience, even in my pain, heartbreak, and confusion. Their lessons have stayed with me ever since.

Exploring the mythology and religion of another culture is complex, to be sure, and I approached this work as respectfully as I possibly could in order to share these evocative goddesses with you—if you want to meet them.

Who is this for?

If you’re feeling disconnected, going through a grieving process, wanting to connect with intimacy, sexuality, or relationships in a new way, questioning your perspectives on life, want to learn more about the moon, or are navigating a life change, this course is for you. It’s especially helpful during times of difficulty, confusion, or heartbreak, but it’s also wonderful for nourishing a creative spark, a spiritual practice, a new connection with desire and sexuality, and a sense of connection and intimacy with yourself.

You’ll sit, you’ll breathe, you might try a yoga posture or a meditation in the bath, then write on a specific journaling prompt. You might allow the meditations to lull you to sleep at night and write down your dreams in the morning. You might simply read the email in the morning and allow it to guide you through the rest of your day.
